Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at School District No. 22 (Vernon). As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain District facilities, including classrooms, offices, and common areas.
  • Operate various cleaning equipment and use chemical products and cleaning apparatus as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety and WHMIS regulations.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs and replenishing consumables.
  • Remove snow, ice, and garbage from District facilities.
  • Assist with building security, including checking and securing buildings, setting alarms, and monitoring activities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and others, and respond to inquiries and provide general information.
Requirements
  • Grade 10 education
  • Knowledge of commercial building cleaning methods
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of WHMIS regulations
  • Experience working in a school district or similar environment
