Job Title: Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator will provide administrative and technical support to the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment department at IMP Aerospace & Defence. The successful candidate will work closely with leadership and employees to conduct risk assessments, assist with incident investigations, and provide internal safety training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise and promote proactive hazard awareness to reduce incidents in the workplace
  • Assist with root cause analysis within incident investigations
  • Provide guidance to production and support departments on occupational health, safety, and environmental matters
  • Maintain up-to-date OHSE data and prepare monthly statistical reports
  • Conduct documented risk assessments of workplace processes to identify hazards and develop strategies to control them
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the safe return to work program
  • Prepare and deliver Health and Safety training to employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Inspect and maintain OHSE and emergency response tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Coordinate qualitative and quantitative fit testing and other external safety testing

Requirements:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety with one year of related experience or a minimum of three years of related experience in an occupational health and safety role
  • Education or previous experience in ergonomics and disability case coordination is an asset
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety regulations, codes, standards, and best practices
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and handle stressful situations in a unionized environment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within the company
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to listen and gather information effectively, present to groups, and create clear and concise written reports
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office software
