About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping patients achieve their maximum potential and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultation, assessment, treatment, and follow-up services to patients in the occupational performance areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address patients' occupational performance components, including physical, cognitive, and affective aspects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care and support to patients and their families.
  • Conduct seating assessments and pressure management strategies to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Provide education and support to patients, families, and caregivers to promote optimal health outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy or equivalent degree.
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory.
  • Experience in seating assessments and pressure management strategies is considered an asset.
  • BCLS certification.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility.
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Long assignment, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly.
  • Anticipated end date of August 6, 2025.
  • Shifts are 8H, over a 6 day/week schedule.

Compensation and Incentives:

$42.89 Hourly.
