The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Legislative Affairs. This position is responsible for leading the Legislation Division in the preparation and publication of government bills, private members' bills, and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Direct the preparation and publication of government bills, private members' bills, and regulations
- Provide legislative drafting services to the Government and the Legislative Assembly
- Oversee the consolidation of legislation and provide advice on legislation and statutory interpretation
- Lead a team of legislative counsel and legal translators in the preparation of laws governing private and public affairs in the Northwest Territories
To be successful in this role, you will require a common law degree and membership in a Canadian law society, as well as five or more years of experience practicing law with experience as a dedicated legislative counsel and managing lawyers.
