Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sustainability Strategist to join our team at Finning. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing our global sustainability strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and driving business growth through sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy that aligns with our business objectives and addresses compliance, governance, and customer expectations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the development and execution of sustainability initiatives, working closely with internal stakeholders to drive change and achieve sustainability goals.
  • Monitor and analyze sustainability trends, regulations, and legislation, ensuring our organization remains ahead of compliance requirements and adapts to changing market conditions.
  • Partner with legal, internal audit, and operational teams to integrate sustainability practices into our corporate policies, procedures, and activities.
  • Provide oversight to sustainability audits and assessments, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring alignment with international standards.
  • Develop and maintain a sustainability reporting framework that meets global standards and stakeholder expectations.
  • Oversee and collaborate on sustainability training and awareness programs to embed a culture of sustainability within our organization.
  • Act as a key spokesperson and representative of Finning on sustainability issues, engaging with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and industry groups.
  • Engage with commercial leaders to gather insights and feedback on customer sustainability expectations and incorporate this feedback into our sustainability initiatives.
  • Work closely with the customer performance team to ensure our products and services meet the sustainability needs of our customers.
  • Drive innovation in sustainability that serves as a differentiator in the marketplace and adds value to the customer experience.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to a small team of sustainability professionals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, business, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of ESG regulatory requirements and trends nationally and globally.
  • Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI, CDP, and SASB.
  • 10+ years of experience in a relevant industry/business experience in a sustainability role or related field.
  • Strong project management skills, with proven ability to plan, organize, and lead.
  • Persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to present to senior leadership internally and externally.
