Dietary Assistant

Job Summary:
The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation, serving, and distribution of nutritious meals to clients in a hospital setting. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals to clients
- Perform cashier duties and maintain accurate records
- Follow proper sanitation and safety guidelines to ensure a clean and safe food environment
- Collaborate with the Site Coordinator or Supervisor - Nutrition and Food Services to achieve departmental goals and objectives
Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 10 education
- Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or equivalent Food Sanitation course
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook/Email, and online training
- Knowledge and understanding of all therapeutic and texture modified diets
- Knowledge and understanding of sanitary food handling
- Six (6) months previous experience working in food handling and/or health care food services environment
- Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered
Working Conditions:
The Dietary Aide will work in a fast-paced hospital environment, interacting with clients, staff, and visitors. The incumbent will be required to lift items up to 1-5 kg (2.2-11 lbs) constantly, 6-11kg (13.2 – 24 lbs) occasionally, and 23 kg (50 lbs) seldomly. The successful candidate will be required to maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check.
