The Role
The Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the overall quality of our products and services. This includes inspecting incoming materials, in-process, and final product assemblies, as well as documenting records and managing supplier quality. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work autonomously.
Main Responsibilities
- Inspect and validate all operational process outputs to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Conduct quality inspections of all incoming goods to OSI inventory, including functional product validations and analysis of production records.
- Verify bill of materials, quality records, certificates from suppliers, and test records for completeness and accuracy.
- Observe and validate complex factory acceptance test events on behalf of customers.
- Perform final QC inspections on all outgoing systems and hardware, including detailed objective evidence reports.
- Create accurate inspection records and document evidence of all inspections performed within QC databases.
- Manage supplier defects in collaboration with the Purchasing department and create Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) to address quality issues.
- Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve OSI and supplier quality.
- Lead MRB (Material Review Board) process and run cross-departmental MRB meetings to report on MRB status and conduct quarantine activities on non-conforming products and materials.
- Develop and maintain OSI processes, document updates, and process efficiencies.
Requirements
- Recognized university degree, technical diploma, or technologist with preference given to direct experience in Quality Assurance, QC Inspections, Methods or Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electronics Manufacturing, Aeronautics, Automotive, or related industry.
- Direct experience in Marine, Shipbuilding, or Military industries is highly beneficial.
- 10+ years' experience in a Quality Engineering role, QC inspection, or equivalent.
- QMS auditor's certification to ISO 9001:2015 or similar ISO series is required, with a high level of understanding of quality management systems auditing and quality assurance fundamentals knowledge.
- Key skills: vision, attention to detail, self-motivation, judgment, inspection, proofreading, logic & reasoning, analytical skills, communication skills, interpersonal aptitude, process analysis, objectivity, and ability to read and interpret complex hardware design drawings.
- The candidate must be able to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and identify QC inspection tasks. May be directed to train other staff and act as an informal team leader.
- Demonstrated skills and ability to identify defects, problems, communicate QC results, create records of inspection, negotiate and prioritize time management with key functional managers, and operate in different work areas.
- Patient, organized, and methodical, with excellent team player skills.
- Must be passionate about quality and relentless in its pursuit.
- High-level written and verbal communication is required.
- Highly computer literate, with experience in MS-office suite, Adobe, SharePoint, JIRA, and PDXpert.
- Able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
