Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at SGS Canada. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the continued administration and monitoring of the adherence of the Food laboratory operations to the Quality Management System policies and procedures set up by the Lab Management of the Food Laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with Quality System procedures and ensure that all laboratory operations are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine equipment verification/calibration and review instrument qualification and maintenance records (IQ/OQ/PQ/PM).
  • Maintain and monitor chemical, standard and reference control materials inventories and usage, as well as equipment inventory.
  • Review and quality control of analysis and supporting records, and create/update SLIM method schemes/QC codes.
  • Monitor equipment & supporting systems and records for compliance to the company quality practices, and maintain/monitor training records for staff.
  • Ensure the Quality System tools are available and used, and assist in the coordination of PT programs.
  • Participate in internal audits, for-cause investigations, and follow up as needed, under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. or Diploma (in a science discipline) from a recognized technical institute with equivalent experience.
  • Previous laboratory experience in an ISO/IEC 17025 and/or GMP environment is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a Quality Control and/or Quality Assurance role in a regulated industry is an asset.
  • Superior organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data with a strong science background.
  • Able to work with technical, sales and management staff.
  • Proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Excellent technical writing skills, ability to write reports and work instructions.
  • Competent in reviewing analytical procedures and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team under tight deadlines, and a strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure.
