Scope of Position

In a rapidly shifting market landscape, our clients seek disruptive thinking, technology, and solutions to enhance their operations at an unprecedented pace. Our Smart Industries group addresses these needs by leveraging our vast experience with customer technologies, processes, concepts, and techniques, along with our investment in new technology R&D.

We offer innovative and commercially effective IOP, m2m, big data, and related software and hardware solutions for specialized industrial markets.

Currently, Stonewood Group is seeking a highly accomplished Managing Director to provide global leadership to this division. The incumbent will collaborate closely with vertical market business units to identify opportunities for creative industry-wide customer solutions that reduce costs, increase efficiencies, or enhance performance.

The Managing Director will oversee a team of skilled software and systems professionals to address these opportunities while leveraging the resulting IP to additional customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Senior VP and senior management team to refine and implement the strategic direction for the Smart Industries group.
  • Provide ongoing direction, performance management, and developmental support to the team.
  • Evaluate alignment between the Solutions and Systems Division and major vertical market business units.
  • Regularly report to the Senior VP on results and future plans.
  • Drive expansion of the division and brand into new customers, exploring alliance, acquisition, and investment opportunities.
  • Leverage relationships and projects to benefit other divisions and the organization.
  • Strive for growth.

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in software, solutions, and advanced technologies.
  • Proven experience creatively applying technology to solve problems.
  • Heavy industrial market experience.
  • Experience growing a P&L.
  • A highly intelligent, strategically-minded executive with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, willing to take on challenges.
  • Strong team orientation suited to building consensus in a global concern.
  • Based in Toronto or willing to relocate.
  • Experience managing distributed teams of professionals.
  • A highly competitive compensation package.

Estimated annual salary: $250,000 - $350,000.
