Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Red Seal Cook to join our culinary team at Scarborough Retirement Residence. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to recipes and dietary requirements.
  • Food Safety: Ensure that food is handled, stored, and served safely to prevent contamination and foodborne illness.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and maintain the quality of food and beverages served to residents.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with other culinary staff to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and management to ensure their needs are met.
Requirements
  • Red Seal Certification: Must hold a valid Red Seal Cook certification.
  • Culinary Experience: 3 years or more of culinary experience in a hospital, retirement, or long-term care setting.
  • Food Safety Certification: Must hold a valid Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Physical Ability: Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy and hot items safely.
Working Conditions
  • Hot Environment: Work in a hot kitchen environment with sharp and moving equipment.
  • Prolonged Standing: Stand for long periods and walk frequently.
