The High-Risk Equipment Safety Manager, working with Field Operations Managers, Health & Safety Managers, and the Director of Health & Safety, oversees and audits high-risk equipment life safety systems across sites. This position supports Construction Operations in the field, ensuring necessary support, guidance, and oversight for worker and project safety through all phases of construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project limitations and advise on options for tower cranes and high-risk equipment.
  • Lead hazard assessments, including task analysis, risk management, and implementation of control measures to improve safety.
  • Ensure Notice of Project – Tower Crane submissions to WorkSafeBC for all new crane erections.
  • Attend meetings between the Company and relevant stakeholders for tower crane planning, erection, operation, maintenance, and take-down.
  • Develop and advise on Company standards and best practices for life safety systems and high-risk equipment management.
  • Facilitate project safety program improvements by assisting with project audits, reviewing findings, and implementing changes.
  • Manage a system to ensure crane operator and rigger qualifications and competency across operations.
  • Partner with Formworks Operations personnel to provide coaching and mentorship on legislative and internal policy changes for safety.

You Bring:

The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert on tower cranes, comfortable walking a site, climbing a crane, and creating safety programs. Drawing upon extensive background experience, you'll advise and recommend improvements to all high-risk equipment use.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience in a safety position acquired in a construction setting.
  • National Construction Safety Officer accreditation through a recognized training authority.
  • Addional training in safety an asset, including WHMIS, CSTS, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, and Aerial Work Platform.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable Provincial legislation regarding Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Familiarity with reading engineered drawings, including detailed equipment and formwork drawings required for life safety.
  • Effective time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including accident prevention and cause analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with ability to coach, facilitate, and influence cultural and behavioral change.

The estimated salary range for this role is $120,000 to $160,000, depending on experience, plus a competitive performance-based bonus program. We discuss the right fit for your experience level during the interview process.
