The Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre seeks a highly motivated and dedicated Social Work Program Coordinator to join our team. This is a temporary, full-time position with the possibility of extension.

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $55,000 per annum, based on experience

About the Role

This position will play a key role in providing support services to our clients, including assessment, counseling, and case management. The successful candidate will work closely with our team to develop and implement programs that address the social and emotional needs of our community.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. They will be passionate about working with Indigenous communities and committed to promoting cultural competency and awareness within our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess client situations and problems to determine the types of services required
  • Develop and implement programs that address the social and emotional needs of our community
  • Provide counseling and case management services to clients
  • Supervise other social workers, paid para-professional staff, student trainees, and volunteers
  • Collaborate with community agencies and organizations to provide comprehensive support services to our clients
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in social work, preferably in an Indigenous setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Cultural competency and awareness
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
