Apollo Health and Beauty Care is a prominent developer and manufacturer of personal care products with an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Maintenance & Reliability Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities of the Maintenance Department, including associated Contractors. This individual will establish, implement, and maintain a Preventative Maintenance System to ensure all equipment is safe, well-maintained, and operates efficiently with minimal downtime. Additionally, they will plan and execute maintenance overhauls of existing equipment.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  1. The Maintenance & Reliability Manager Lead will supervise, coach, mentor, and lead the Maintenance team responsible for repairing and maintaining all equipment.
  2. They will ensure that all Contractors brought in to perform work are compliant with WSIB regulations and Apollo's Contractor Policy.
  3. Effective acquisition of cost-efficient external maintenance services through multiple supplier quotes will be a key responsibility.
  4. Critical reviews of outside contractor site work will be conducted to ensure completion and compliance with work orders/contract expectations.
  5. Collaboration with Finance and Purchasing teams will be essential to ensure vendor invoicing and Apollo payment administration processes are followed.
  6. Maintenance priorities and activities will be effectively communicated through a balance of verbal reports, email summaries, and spreadsheets.
  7. Accountability for Maintenance overall spend, both Preventative and Reactive Maintenance, will be a critical aspect of this role.
  8. Effective management of asset movement for outside repair will be done in full compliance with Apollo's contractor policy and financial controls.
  9. Ensuring equipment safety and compliance with regulatory requirements will be a top priority.
  10. Closely working with operations to guarantee equipment and systems are available when needed and operate at required performance and quality standards.
  11. Developing vertical start-up processes to implement efficient production systems will be a key objective.
  12. Providing input and managing implementation, start-up, training, and successful closure of specific projects will be an important responsibility.
  13. Staying up-to-date with new technologies and applications to recommend and successfully implement them for continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  14. Overseeing the application and maintenance of manufacturing control systems and instrumentation to ensure system integrity and security.
  15. Supporting and monitoring operation of plant utilities, including refrigeration, compressed air, HVAC, power distribution, lighting, water purification, waste water treatment, and boiler systems, within budgetary guidelines.
  16. Providing leadership as a subject matter expert in regards to safety within designated areas of responsibility.
  17. Executing a preventative maintenance program and creating a maintenance culture that reacts promptly to downtime issues in a multi-shift operation.
Knowledge/Education/Experience:
  1. A post-secondary education in a technical/engineering discipline is required.
  2. An Industrial Skilled Trade License (442A/433A) or equivalent experience is necessary.
  3. A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Maintenance Supervisor role, leading a multi-shift maintenance team, or equivalent experience is required.
  4. Food or pharma experience, accustomed to working in a regulated GMP environment, is highly desirable.
  5. High-speed liquid filling and packaging experience is preferred.
  6. Lean manufacturing experience is advantageous.
  7. Proven ability to implement TPM in a multi-shift manufacturing operation is essential.
  8. Experience with Reliability Centred Maintenance Systems is an asset.
  9. Experience with maintenance budgeting and management of maintenance spend is necessary.
  10. Extensive experience in a GMP manufacturing environment, with knowledge and experience in chemical processing, electronics, process pumps, and drives, HMIs, PLCs, HVAC, boilers, air compressors, refrigeration, liquid filling and packaging equipment, is highly desired.
