Wealthsimple Corporate Development Role Overview
The Corporate Development function at Wealthsimple is responsible for accelerating the company's growth through mergers & acquisitions, strategic investments, and / or strategic partnerships. This is a great opportunity to come help us bend the company's growth trajectory.

Responsibilities

  1. Partner with leaders across the company to identify strategic opportunities that can accelerate our product roadmap and business strategy.
  2. Be a subject matter expert on the competitive landscape and industry trends; leverage your market insights to develop the business case for growth opportunities via product expansion or partnership distribution strategies.
  3. Lead qualitative and quantitative analyses including build / buy / partner considerations, financial forecasting, and valuation modeling.
  4. Manage all stages of a deal process - including inbound / outbound sourcing, deal assessment, valuation, negotiations, due diligence, structuring, closing processes, and post-deal integration - while coordinating across a large cross-functional team.
  5. Cultivate relationships internally and externally to drive growth.

We're looking for someone who has:

  1. 5+ years of relevant work experience in corporate development, corporate strategy, investment banking, venture capital, or private equity.
  2. A passion for high growth tech and strong understanding of FinTech and/or traditional FinServices market.
  3. The ability to think strategically, leveraging a combination of critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, business judgment, and product intuition.
  4. Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with exceptional ability to create structured quantitative and qualitative analyses.
  5. Superior financial modeling and valuation skills (including DCF, comps analysis, etc.).
  6. High EQ and interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships internally and externally.
  7. The ability to balance multiple high-priority projects and collaborate/coordinated across large cross-functional teams.
  8. Strong communication skills (verbal + written) and is able to deliver insights around complex business problems in a thoughtful and persuasive manner.
  9. A proactive mindset and can thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
