Job Summary

NAV CANADA is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to lead the preparation of detailed plans, system designs, and specifications to improve or enhance RTM and related systems. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical, electronics, communications, and computer engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience on complex engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of detailed plans, system designs, and specifications to improve or enhance RTM and related systems.
  • Review and provide technical approval of concept and design documents.
  • Complete testing activities related to software updates and system configuration changes.
  • Provide technical expertise for assigned systems or provide Life-Cycle oversight to Product Managers of RTM and related systems.
  • Lead studies and investigations in technical topics related to RPAS traffic Management to develop new solutions for unresolved problems.
  • Provide technical support for capital project definition and formulation of national strategies to meet operational needs.
  • Keep up to date on research in the RPAS Traffic Management industry.
  • Provide prompt assistance to investigate technical problems with in-service operational systems.
  • Provide second-level support to internal and external RTM system users.
  • Actively promote and contribute to a Safety and Quality culture within the team.

Requirements

  • Graduation with a minimum of a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in electrical, electronics, communications, computer engineering.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
  • 5 years progressive experience on complex engineering projects.
  • Experience working in the development and testing of mission-critical systems, either in-house or through contractors.
  • Experience in a collaborative environment working with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in the application of safety and quality management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A strong knowledge of Professional engineering standards and practice, theory and principles of engineering science and of the practices in specialized field of engineering.
  • Knowledge of software system development, integration, and system testing.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, techniques, and disciplines for large projects.
  • Knowledge of geospatial data principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Air Navigation System and overall system architecture and functionality including air traffic management systems.
