Forensic Psychiatric Nurse

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at the Forensic Psychiatric Vancouver Regional Clinic. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional care to individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, including mental status examinations and physical health evaluations, to inform treatment plans.
- Develop and implement Integrated Treatment Plans (ITPs) based on clinical risk and need, using tools such as the Short-term Assessment of Risk & Treatability (START).
- Provide community case coordination and advocacy services, ensuring continuity of care and collaboration with mental health teams, private psychiatrists, and social service agencies.
- Maintain accurate and concise documentation of client information, adhering to regulatory requirements and FPSC policy standards.
- Provide nursing services, information, and support, including counseling and therapeutic support, medication management, and education on mental illness.
- Facilitate access to psychiatric and social services, including referrals, home visits, and community reintegration support.
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- Two (2) years recent, related experience working with individuals in the community with severe and persistent psychiatric illness.
- Valid BC Drivers License.
