Overview


KPMG Canada's Family Office service team is growing, and we are seeking a Senior Manager to deliver high-touch services to our multi-family office clients.


The successful candidate will serve as a financial quarterback for our clients and their families, managing daily accounting/financial activities, strategic reporting, and financial modeling. They will also support the Family Office team in overall productivity and effectiveness, fostering close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


Responsibilities



  • Act as a controller for clients, maintaining a consolidated view of their overall financial/investment picture and providing strategic advice on cash flow management, financial performance, and forecasting.
  • Coordinate accounting, bookkeeping, investment reporting activities, and oversee the finance/accounting/bookkeeping team's activities.
  • Hold regular status update meetings with the Lead Family Office Relationship Manager, Lead Partner, and Family Office Leader.
  • Conduct financial reconciliation, accuracy checks, and maintain a strong understanding of complex financial structures involving investment companies, brokerage and bank accounts, credit and lending structures, trusts, partnerships, and estate planning.
  • Prepare customized reporting, including financial modeling and Key Performance Indicator reports using Family Office technology and other tools.
  • Maintain client document management systems and related technology platforms.
  • Coordinate financial activities with external/internal advisors (bankers, accountants, lawyers) regarding investment activities, capital calls, and comprehensive analysis of pro forma information.
  • Collaborate with the Wealth Strategy leader to advise on optimizing cash flow and overall structure.
  • Maintain an understanding of investments and general knowledge of fiscal, legal, and accounting implications.
  • Manage project-related aspects of Multi-Family Office or Single-Family Office engagements and coordinate various client-related moving parts for timely responses and delivery.
  • Support the Lead Relationship Manager and Family Office Leader with proposal processes.
  • Maintain client prospect lists, pipeline reports, and business development/leadership update reports.

Requirements



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting; CPA-CGA is an asset.
  • 7+ years of client-facing/relationship management experience with a focus on financial analysis, accounting, and bookkeeping or wealth strategy.
  • Prior audit, tax, financial controller experience is an asset.
  • Prior experience working with a Family Office or professional services organization in a similar role is an asset.
  • Ability to synthesize large quantities of complex data into meaningful insights for clients.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior-level business partners.
  • Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and data mining tools such as SQL, Access, etc.
  • Strong demonstrated use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal/facilitation and client relationship management skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and help grow the practice.
  • Familiarity with KPMG service lines and strong network within professional services is an asset.
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across functions/groups.
  • Effective, versatile, and action-oriented.
