Role Overview

The Rehabilitation Assistant plays a vital role in our community, impacting the lives of residents through strong leadership and motivation.

As a key member of our care team, your typical day will involve:

  • Following rehabilitation and mobilization programs for residents as directed by the treating PT/OT.
  • Assisting clients with established rehabilitative activities, such as mobility and strengthening exercises, walking programs, and activities of daily living.
  • Demonstrating the use of prescribed treatments and adaptive devices, such as braces, wheelchairs, and walkers.
  • Reporting observations of residents' behavior and progress to the Therapist/Nurse.
  • Maintaining an attendance roster for statistical purposes.
  • Setting up and organizing furnishings and equipment for related activities.
  • Maintaining an inventory of equipment, devices, and materials.
  • Providing input into planning and evaluating rehabilitation programs.
  • Participating in in-services, staff development programs, and serving on committees as needed.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of fire/emergency procedures and policies.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant diploma from a recognized school or a bachelor's or master's degree in physiotherapy or occupational therapy.
  • Experience in Residential Care or a similar rehab setting.
  • A successful Criminal Records Check.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this role is $30.96, with the potential for wage leveling to end and the pay rate to reflect the collective agreement pay rates.
