Bilingual Senior Underwriting Consultant, High Net Worth Expert

As a Bilingual Senior Underwriting Consultant, High Net Worth, you will play a key role in supporting the High Net Worth Team at Sun Life. This team is dedicated to creating a remarkable new business experience through an unparalleled proactive and responsive process that supports both the advisor and their client throughout the entire acquisition process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective training and mentoring programs for senior underwriting resources on financial and reinsurance aspects of High Net Worth business.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments on larger and more complex cases with higher premium and face amounts, ensuring sound and competitive underwriting decisions.
- Classify life and critical illness risks, utilizing full signing authority, and applying holistic underwriting expertise in all areas of underwriting.
- Provide referrals and mentor senior underwriters, promoting professional growth and development.
- Deliver presentations to advisors and firms, supporting SLF Underwriting philosophies, and fostering strong relationships with distribution partners.
- Identify areas of challenge and develop well-thought-out recommendations for solutions through the Brighter Way program.
- Embody a client-centric approach, utilizing a proactive service orientation, and demonstrating a commitment to supporting distribution partners.
Requirements:
- Bilingualism (French and English) is essential for frequent interactions with colleagues and internal partners across Canada and worldwide.
- Minimum 7-10 years of underwriting experience, with excellent technical skills and a strong understanding of SLF underwriting guidelines.
- AALU designation and working towards the FALU designation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to support change and adapt to new situations.
- Exceptional reinsurance negotiating skills, empathy, and a commitment to promoting positive interactions.
- Awareness of trends and changes in medicine, with the ability to bring forward recommendations to operational teams and development and governance as needed.
- Excellent partnership-building skills with advisors and wholesalers.
