Job Summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team in Langley, B.C. This is a temporary part-time position available until December 31, 2024. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work with clients of all ages, and/or adults and transitioning youth with developmental disabilities, to provide occupational therapy services in community-based settings.

Responsibilities
  1. Assess client's cognitive, perceptual, self-care, physical, and leisure status to develop a care plan that promotes functional independence and occupational performance.
  2. Collaborate with client/family/caregiver and other healthcare professionals to formulate treatment goals and develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  3. Prescribe and recommend specialized and adaptive aids and equipment to clients for activities of daily living, and educate clients/family/caregivers and staff on independent living skills and occupational performance.
  4. Coordinate rehabilitative services with the client and other health service providers, such as home care nursing, case management, home support, and community resources.
  5. Act as a client advocate by providing information and liaising with funding agencies and community resources, and determine appropriate tasks for delegation.
  6. Participate in quality improvement and risk management activities by assisting with the development, evaluation, and monitoring of policies, procedures, and standards related to occupational therapy.
  7. Maintain patient records and reports statistics to accepted standard, and identify staff learning needs and develop and provide orientation and education related to occupational therapy.
  8. Provide input to the Manager regarding the purchase of supplies, equipment, and repairs of equipment required for occupational therapy programs.
  9. Participate in research and/or special projects related to occupational therapy by collaborating with other interdisciplinary staff, and maintain knowledge in current developments in evidence-based occupational therapy and practice.
Qualifications

Current full registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC and eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. Two (2) years' recent, related clinical experience in a community or home health setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid BC Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
