We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Langley Specialized Seniors Clinic. As a member of our interdisciplinary care team, you will provide occupational therapy services to older and/or geriatric adults with chronic conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide occupational therapy assessment, consultation, and interventions to maximize physical function and promote independence and safety.
- Determine the appropriate use of recognized occupational therapy assessment tools and conduct assessments as needed.
- Prescribe and recommend specialized and adaptive aids and equipment for activities of daily living.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop individual treatment goals and provide treatment and/or teaching to clients and caregivers.
- Identify resources required for treatment and initiate requests for external funding as needed.
- Provide verbal and written reports to the interdisciplinary team regarding progress towards care plan goals.
- Graduation from an approved school of Occupational Therapy.
- Two years' recent, clinical-related experience in working with older and/or geriatric clients.
- Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC (COTBC) and eligible for membership in the BC Society of Occupational Therapists and/or Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.
- Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current developments in Occupational Therapy relevant to working with older and/or geriatric adults.
- Demonstrated understanding of the scope of practice of other health care disciplines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community resources.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and revise educational programs.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a role model exemplifying evidence-based gerontological practices.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, problem solve, organize, and prioritize work in a continually changing environment.
