Job Title: Seasonal Employee - Technical Services

This role is part of the Technical Services department, which provides various essential services to the community. The ideal candidate will support the team with curb cutting contracts, Road Occupancy inspections and permits, Municipal Consent issuance, and maintenance contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct field inspections, documenting findings with digital pictures, filing records, and maintaining detailed reports.
  2. Perform in-field measurements and mark-ups for curb cutting contracts.
  3. Collaborate with utility companies, contractors, and other town departments to achieve common goals.
  4. Communicate with contractors and permit holders regarding deficiencies and restoration efforts.
  5. Address resident/community concerns related to Road Occupancy Permits and Municipal Consents.
  6. Provide assistance with various maintenance contracts.
  7. Carry out additional tasks as required by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Educational background in civil engineering technology is necessary.
  2. Relevant experience in civil engineering and field inspections is a must.
  3. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  4. Familiarity with the Highway Traffic Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  5. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to build effective relationships.
  6. Effective communication (verbal and written) and time management skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
  9. A valid Class 'G' driver's license and clean driving record are essential.
  10. Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check upon hire.
What We Offer:
  1. Rate of Pay: $25.05 - $28.14 per hour.
  2. Hours of Work: A standard 40-hour workweek with possible rotating shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.
  3. Duration of Employment: This seasonal position typically lasts up to 150 days from April to November, depending on operational needs.
  4. Probationary Period: Six months of probation, after which successful candidates may be invited to return in subsequent seasons.
