Job Description

**Financial Controller Position at Destinationone Consulting**

Destinationone Consulting is exclusively working with Nanak Foods on a retained search for a dynamic and visionary Financial Controller.

The Financial Controller will provide leadership and coordination of company financial planning, debt financing, annual audit and budget management functions as well as ensuring company accounting procedures conform to required standards. This role will also be actively involved in aspects of human resources management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Oversee daily operations of the finance department including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash flow management and timely monthly closing procedures.
  • Financial Reporting: Manage the preparation of monthly financial reporting & quarterly financial statements, forecasts and analysis.
  • Team Management: Manage A/R & A/P Teams to improve processes to ensure timely monthly closing, accuracy of accounting entries in ERP system, & organized filing of required documents.
  • Intercompany Transactions: Manage inter company transactions and prepare consolidated quarterly financial statements for the PMF group of 4+ entities.
  • Financial Planning and Budgeting: Direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions.
  • Investment and Banking: Manage short-term investments, loan positions and requirements, electronic banking, and foreign exchange transactions.
  • Audit and Compliance: Manage audit of the annual financial statements with external Auditors.
  • Insurance and Risk Management: Review, evaluate and administer corporate insurance program.
  • Tax and Reporting: Ensure compliance with provincial and federal tax and reporting requirements.
  • Management Reporting: Produce various management reports including inventory reports and analysis.
  • Accounting and Tax Planning: Manage accounting and tax planning of related corporations.
  • Decision Support: Assist in decision-making related but not limited to, product pricing, project management, bulk ingredient purchases.
  • Cash Flow and Vendor Management: Manage cash flow and ensure prompt payment to vendors and maintain accounts receivable efficiently.
  • Process Improvement: Coordinate with other departments to setup processes ensuring efficient document flow and internal controls.
  • Banking and Government Liaison: Liaison with banks to manage current reporting and financing. Build and maintain relationships for future financing needs of the company.
  • Government Relations: Liaison with various government departments to manage quotas, subsidies and reporting.
  • ERP System Management: Oversee and manage setup of ERP System ensuring all transactions are reflecting in the correct GL accounts, etc.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in senior-level finance or accounting position.
  • Possess an accounting CPA designation.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting CPA concepts and principles (Canadian GAAP and ASPE).
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills with ability to identify and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Set up internal audit controls.
  • Audit experience preferred.
