We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our Preconstruction team in the National Capital Region.

About the Role

As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting new and ongoing project growth by providing accurate estimates and expert mechanical knowledge. Your trade-driven expertise and knowledge will challenge industry standards and ensure project success on large-scale building and infrastructure projects, ranging from $ million to upwards of $1 billion.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will work closely with our proposals team and client groups to secure bids and deliver high-quality estimates.
  • Collaborate with team members, trade partners, consultants, and clients to share your mechanical expertise and drive project success.
  • Actively complete full quantity take-offs to ensure accuracy of contract specifications and pricing.
  • Compile material price list updates/analysis, labour productivity, and unit rates to support informed decision-making.
  • Utilize your research skills to update historical data, such as purchase orders and analysis reports, to enhance estimate accuracy.
  • Audit technical specifications for bid documents with attention to detail.
  • Foster strong relationships with trade partners, consultants, and clients to achieve project goals and vision.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 1-4 years of relevant M&E estimating experience, combined with a University Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and industry experience.
  • The ability to interpret mechanical drawings and contract documents, with strong computer skills using estimation software.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, along with a passion for building relationships.
  • Enthusiasm for innovation and a drive to continuously improve.
  • Knowledge of the Ottawa/Gatineau market and the ability to work throughout the National Capital Region.
  • The ability to obtain a Government of Canada Secret level clearance as per project contractual requirements.
  • Mandatory bilingualism in both official Canadian languages, English and French.
