We are Integrated Food and Buildings, a consulting firm specializing in integrated project management and multi-disciplinary building solutions. Our expertise spans process optimization, project management, and full design and engineering services from concept to commissioning. We work across North America with recognized food producers, fostering long-term relationships and collaboration for innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead process design efforts for new and/or modified food and beverage production facilities across Canada;
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, technical specialists, and project managers to design optimized systems, structures, and components;
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of equipment and process to minimize downtime, turnaround time, and waste reduction while maintaining quality standards;

Responsibilities also include:

  • Developing process design basis and selecting unit operations;
  • Preparing process flow and piping and instrumentation diagrams;
  • Preparing mass and energy balances;
  • Sizing and specifying process and utility equipment;
  • Equipment procurement and bid evaluation;
  • Assisting project management with project scope, budget, and schedule development for process-related work;
  • Coordinating schedules and work of contractors for process equipment installation;
  • Overseeing process and utility equipment installations;
  • Supporting project managers with design work and coordination of approvals.
Requirements
  • Degree in Industrial or Chemical Engineering from a recognized institution;
  • 3-5 years of experience in a related field or environment, preferably with increasing responsibility;
  • Fundamental understanding of process flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment layout, and specifications, as well as capital project estimates;
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitary design, and knowledge of food and beverage industry standards, practices, and regulations (desired);
  • Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with proven client interaction and experience;
  • Intellectual curiosity and a positive, team-oriented attitude;
  • Strong problem-solving, organizing, and time management skills.
Travel and Working Conditions

This role involves working in a modern office environment with occasional travel to support project presentations and site investigations at client sites across Canada. Limited travel is expected, approximately 10% - 20% of the time.
