About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Psychiatrist to join our team at PHSA. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical services to individuals with complex mental health and substance use issues who are involved in the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including risk assessments, and develop treatment recommendations for individuals with complex mental health and substance use issues.
  • Participate in treatment planning conferences and provide expert advice on treatment options.
  • Lead planning and implementation of care and treatment through innovative services and delivery models.
  • Support the ongoing education of the Forensic Psychiatry team through sharing your expertise and experience.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide specialized forensic psychiatric and psychological assessment and treatment services to the courts, the BC Review Board, and to the custody and community branches of BC Corrections.
Requirements
  • Fellowship standing in the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry.
  • Certification in Forensic Psychiatry subspecialty.
  • Active interest in academic forensic psychiatry.
  • Eligibility for licensing with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia.
