Job Overview

Flex-N-Gate, a leading manufacturer and supplier of automotive components, seeks a skilled Controls Engineer to lead the design, construction, and implementation of assembly equipment control systems and standards. This role will play a vital part in fulfilling production requirements for new programs and product launches.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement assembly equipment control systems and standards, ensuring compliance with specifications and codes.
  • Review and assist in assembly tooling vendors' proposed designs to ensure compliance with specifications and codes.
  • Prepare specifications for purchasing materials and equipment, including cost estimates and equipment layout.
  • Assist in creating, modifying, and testing products and processes.
  • Interpret engineering drawings for production personnel.
  • Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures.
  • Create and review FMEAs and Control Plans.
  • Perform root cause and failure analysis, as required.
  • Provide expertise and guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems.
  • Inspect products and processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software.
  • Create technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  • Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
  • Resolve technical/product issues in manufacturing products.
  • Maintain up-to-date engineering knowledge and stay current with industry trends and best practices.

Requirements

  • University diploma in Engineering Technology or 10 years of experience in the controls field with hardware and software design.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Process Flow, Control Plan, PFMEA, Statistical Process, and Machine Controls.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001/TS 16949.
  • Knowledge of CAD.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to problem-solve and choose the best solutions.
  • Ability to analyze data and create technical documents.
  • Ability to use common hand tools and power tools.
  • Proficient in work processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and other database functions such as reporting and analysis.
  • Proven time management and project management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills.
  • Able to work independently, multitask, and prioritize.
