Job Summary

Nexus Systems Group Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our database systems to ensure optimal performance and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement database systems to meet business requirements
  • Configure and deploy MSSQL servers on cloud and on-premise environments
  • Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and monitoring to ensure optimal database performance
  • Implement database maintenance and housekeeping tasks, including database rebuilds, re-indexing, expansion, and archiving
  • Troubleshoot MSSQL server problems and assist in the resolution of application issues
  • Implement disaster recovery and high availability solutions to ensure business continuity
  • Provide DBA support to development and implementation projects, including installations, database loading, migrations, testing, and go-live support
Requirements
  • 8-10+ years of progressive technical experience as a Database Administrator
  • 5+ years of experience with public cloud platforms, including GCP Cloud SQL and Azure MI/DBaaS/IaaS database administration
  • Hands-on experience with MSSQL Services, including SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, PolyBase, R Service, and Power BI
  • Hands-on experience with MSSQL servers 2022, 2019, and 2017, including database security, HA/DR, performance tuning, database backup, and prior versions DB administration
  • Hands-on experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, C#, VB scripts, SSIS, and T-SQL
Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft and/or Google Data Platform certification
  • Windows Servers 2019 and 2016 experience
  • Experience with AD, Firewall IP/Port, domain trust/authentication methods related to MSSQL/Windows database connectivity
  • Experience with application-side tuning vs. server-side tuning
  • Experience with setting up MSSQL Always-On, Availability groups, and database replication
  • Experience with logical and physical backup/recovery/compression techniques
Education

Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Math, or related discipline
