We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Unit Clerk at the Health Sciences Centre. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic/unit.
Key Responsibilities- Receive patients to clinic/unit and ensure accurate documentation is completed.
- Act as a communication link for the unit, answering telephone calls and forwarding messages as needed.
- Obtain, assemble, and maintain charts, transcribe physicians' orders, and schedule appointments/tests for patients.
- Perform a variety of tasks to ensure the care and comfort of patients, including preparing payroll information and maintaining clinic/unit supplies.
- Enter patient data into applicable information systems and follow all HSC policy and procedures.
- Previous related work experience is preferred, but not required.
- Current hospital-based information systems/programs and scheduling systems/programs are an asset.
- High school education, Manitoba standards, and successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk training program are required.
- Medical terminology is also required.
- Typing/keyboarding skills of 40 wpm are required.
- Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written.
- Ability to organize, manage time, and prioritize workload, as well as work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively and recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
The successful candidate must be able to function effectively in a stressful environment with frequent interruptions.
