General Manager

In Demand Recruitment & Consulting Inc. is seeking a seasoned General Manager to lead our Courtland, ON client's operations.

Our client is a renowned industry leader in municipal sidewalk tractors, with over 50 years of experience equipping Public Works Departments, Parks Departments, Airports, and more.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute long-range company strategy, performance goals, and tactical execution of annual business plans.
  • Lead the management team in developing multiple year strategic plans and annual operating plans, covering new product development, financials, capital spending, cash flow, and inventory management.
  • Drive Lean Enterprise and 80/20 initiatives to improve organizational capability, quality, and product performance.
  • Oversee compliance, quality systems, and manufacturing standards, ensuring certification and re-certification requirements are met.
  • Participate in supply base integration strategies, including ESG/FSC initiatives, and serve as a public spokesperson for the company.
  • Lead quarterly all-employee meetings, create leadership visibility, and ensure organizational alignment to achieve strategic initiatives.
  • Work with HR to ensure annual employee objectives align with the Annual Operation Plan (AOP) key initiatives.
  • Participate in the Talent Review process to ensure proper management action is taken to move the organization forward.
  • Support the company's Enterprise Risk Management process and the development of its Long-Term Financial Model.
  • Support Investor Relations initiatives by facilitating plant tours for current or prospective shareholders.
  • Act as a goodwill ambassador for corporate, delivering corporate messaging, identifying opportunities for corporate engagement, and providing feedback to corporate as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • MBA preferred; direct experience managing a large-scale manufacturing plant may be considered in lieu of MBA.
  • 10-15 years of experience in Operations, Product Engineering, Finance, Purchasing, Materials, Quality Systems, and Human Resources in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in managing multiple levels of customer relationships in a dealer environment is an asset.
  • Previous experience in Sales, Marketing, and/or Information Technology is preferred.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficiency in effectively communicating complex information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound interpretation of financial documentation and associated analysis.
  • Experience in manufacturing planning and sales cyclicality.
  • Knowledge of Heavy Equipment Systems (hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics, engines) preferred.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office suite.
