About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Director, the Health Services Manager is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to multi-disciplinary teams within a patient-centred, Collaborative Practice Model for patient care units.

The Manager applies strategic and analytical thinking to address challenges and achieve the ultimate goal of high quality, safe, and cost-effective services to better support patient experience/outcome.

The Health Services Manager exhibits sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the framework and objectives of the Health Services Program and the Mission and Vision and Strategic Directions of Nova Scotia Health.

The Manager incorporates into daily practice the Core Competencies and Values of Nova Scotia Health.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill this key leadership role.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a health-related discipline, current registration with an applicable college related to health degree, and a minimum of 5 years recent clinical experience in a position included in this portfolio.

The candidate will also have a minimum of 5 years recent experience in a leadership and/or management position with responsibilities related to program planning, evaluation, human resource and financial management within a unionized environment.

The successful candidate will be able to develop and facilitate strategies consistent with the principles of Organizational Health and demonstrate proficiency in program planning, financial and human resource management, oral and written communication and interpersonal effectiveness.

The candidate will also possess excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, strategic thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to successfully change, adapt, overcome, and cope with unexpected challenges.

The ideal candidate will also be able to develop and maintain strategic partnerships and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners across the healthcare continuum.

The candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to employee and self-development and continuous quality improvement.

The successful candidate will be proficient with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, internet, email, and the ability to utilize health information systems for decision support.

The candidate will also demonstrate regular attendance in current and previous employment and possess the physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position.

The ideal candidate will also have a valid Nova Scotia Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.

Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.

What We Offer

Nova Scotia Health offers a competitive salary range of $45.45 - $60.39 Hourly.

The successful candidate may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
