Your Opportunity:

The Emergency Mental Health Regularized Relief Team at the Royal Alexandra and University of Alberta Hospitals provides exceptional mental health care to patients in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. Our team offers comprehensive addiction and mental health assessment, short-term intervention, and treatment, as well as coordination of community outpatient follow-up and facilitation of admission when required.

Job Summary:

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients, promoting, maintaining, or restoring health, mental health, and preventing mental illness, injury, and disability. You will teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and ensure their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care
  • Teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients
  • Ensure patient safety and well-being
  • Collaborate with the inter-professional team to provide comprehensive care
  • Document and evaluate interventions
Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Strong team building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Knowledge of psychopharmacology and community resources
