Job Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for providing information and training to employers, employees, and the general public on environmental health and safety regulations and best practices. This role will also involve conducting surveys and monitoring programs of the natural environment, collecting samples of materials for analysis, and inspecting workplaces for safety or health hazards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide information and training to employers, employees, and the general public on environmental health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Conduct surveys and monitoring programs of the natural environment.
  • Collect samples of materials for analysis.
  • Inspect workplaces for safety or health hazards.
  • Investigate workplace accidents or illnesses.
  • Initiate enforcement procedures to fine or close an establishment.
  • Develop and implement health and safety plans.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Advise senior management.
  • Organize staff consultation and grievance procedures.
  • Participate in emergency response planning.
  • Implement and co-ordinate mine safety programs.
  • Conduct training sessions.
  • Inspect products and processing methods; prepare reports and ensure that regulations governing health, quality, and safety are followed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in environmental health and safety.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
