Geriatric Psychiatrist

We are seeking a part-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to join our team in providing consultation to patients and their families/caregivers, primary care physicians, and fellow health care professionals in various settings.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and clinical expertise to our geriatric consultation-liaison program, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care to complex patients.
As a Geriatric Psychiatrist with Island Health, you will have the opportunity to expand your practice interests by providing consultation to remote areas on Vancouver Island through our innovative Island-wide Tertiary Geriatric Psychiatry program.
You will participate in clinical service, teaching, and ongoing program development as part of our Island-wide Dementia Strategy, including the newly-opened MINT clinic, conjointly with Geriatric Medicine.
Participation in the NRGH General Psychiatry call rotation is a requirement of this position, with a commitment of approximately 1 in 11.
We encourage involvement in the Island Medical Program undergraduate and postgraduate teaching program, and a University of B.C. affiliated appointment and membership in the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry are available.
Office space, administrative support, telephone, fax, and email are provided by Island Health at no cost.
We offer the opportunity to combine this part-time position with other available part-time positions to create a rewarding and diverse full-time Psychiatry practice.
- Eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC
- Eligible for membership in Canadian Association of Geriatric Psychiatry (mandatory)
- Fellowship is considered an asset, but not required
