Job Summary

The Halifax Port Authority is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure development team, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and supervising construction projects for minor capital projects ranging in size from $5,000 to $150,000.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections and investigations to determine the condition of HPA infrastructure.
  • Provide coordination support to Project Managers for infrastructure design and construction projects.
  • Plan and execute repairs through qualified contractors or by supporting HPA's internal maintenance team.
  • Create, update, and close workorders in HPA's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Ensure timely progress of projects through the design and construction stages and monitor project costs and schedules.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering combined with a minimum of 1-2 years' experience in construction or infrastructure maintenance.
  • Professional Engineering certification or in progress of obtaining (EIT).
  • High degree of proficiency with SharePoint and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Knowledge in AutoCAD and GIS (Geographical Information System) is an asset.

Working Conditions

This role will involve working in a normal office environment with occasional site visits for meetings. You will be exposed to moderate weather conditions and risks associated with construction and transportation type business hazards.
