Waste Management Operations Director

Secure Energy is a leading waste management and energy infrastructure company that operates in western Canada and North Dakota. Our comprehensive network includes waste management facilities, industrial landfills, pipeline operations, metals and mining services, specialty chemicals, and energy infrastructure solutions.
As a Facility Manager at Secure Energy, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the safe and efficient daily operations of our facilities. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Operational Management: Ensure the efficient, safe, and compliant daily operations of waste management facilities, including collection, transportation, classification, and disposal, while optimizing resource utilization and minimizing waste.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team, providing guidance, training, and ad-hoc support as needed to ensure effective, safe performance, while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Customer Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities, address inquiries and concerns promptly, and collaborate with sales and marketing to identify business expansion and retention opportunities.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets, analyze financial performance to identify cost reduction and revenue enhancement opportunities, and ensure operations stay within budget while maximizing profitability.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: Implement quality assurance programs, conduct regular inspections and audits for compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, and obtain necessary permits and licenses for waste management operations.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans, identify industry trends and opportunities, and collaborate with senior management on long-term growth and sustainability strategies.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Management: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations by promoting a safety culture, implementing safety protocols and training, and monitoring and reducing environmental impact of operations.
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- A minimum 5-10 years' experience in Waste Management Facilities, Industrial Landfills or Pipeline Operations.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's license.
- Valid industry safety tickets.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to provide effective leadership and guidance to staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to prepare technical reports.
- Proficient with company applications and Microsoft Office Suite.
The successful candidate will be required to live in Rocky Mountain House, AB. We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits, career progression, and a competitive employee referral program.
