Project SEARCH Skills Trainer

About the Role:

Project SEARCH is an exciting work-focused program for students identified as having a developmental disability. Our Project SEARCH program is embedded in HSC Winnipeg, where our students complete a classroom component while completing three internships.

SCE LifeWorks, an NPO that supports people with developmental disabilities to work in the community, coordinates Project SEARCH in Winnipeg.

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of Skills Trainer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing work experience training & task analysis support to students.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide work experience training & task analysis support to students in various work environments within HSC Winnipeg.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify skills that would benefit students and develop targeted training plans.
  • Communicate effectively with students, hospital staff, school contacts, and Department of Families staff.
Requirements:
  • A strong and confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
  • Empathy and positivity when coaching students through various stages of learning.
  • Experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism is preferred.
  • Human services degree or equivalent combined education & experience is preferred.
Estimated Salary Range:

$60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
