Job Title: Senior Mechanical Designer

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join our team at McCallumSather. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical building services systems for a variety of projects, including laboratories, healthcare facilities, and other complex environments.

Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with project architects, engineers, and clients to ensure mechanical building services systems meet project requirements and specifications.

* Design and develop mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and specialty gases.

* Prepare contract drawings, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design to tender and construction.

* Ensure design standards, quality assurance, and quality control procedures are followed during drawing planning and production.

* Perform load calculations using HAP software and/or E-Quest for modeling.

* Coordinate project requirements with all team members and support construction administration personnel.

Requirements:

* 9-12 years of experience in the preparation, drafting, and design of engineering drawings using appropriate standards for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and medical gases.

* Comprehensive working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, ASHRAE, NFPA, and industry standards.

* Strong experience in planning and managing projects, preparation of materials, cost/timing estimates, reporting, and producing high-level schematics.

* Proficient with Revit MEP, Navisworks, and MS Office.

Preferred Skills and Assets:

* Experience working on LEED and Net Zero projects.

* Energy modeling.

Key Performance Indicators:

* Quality of work meets/exceeds requirements and specifications of the Lead Mechanical Engineer, project architects/engineers, and clients.

* Projects are completed on budget and on time.

* Demonstrated ability to work with various levels of people with McCallumSather and within client organizations.

Education/Licensing/Certification:

* Technologist - College Diploma - Mechanical/Building Science/Building Systems.

* Project portfolio to demonstrate CAD and Revit experience and capabilities.
