Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Team Member to join our team at Super 8 Yellowknife. As a key member of our housekeeping team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation in our guest rooms.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning and stocking allocated guest rooms, adhering to company procedures and instructions for use of cleaning agents. You will also be required to strip and make beds, change bed linens, dust furniture and fixtures, and replenish amenities and supplies.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Clean and disinfect all surfaces, including bathtubs, toilets, sinks, walls, mirrors, tiles, counters, and floor surfaces using approved cleaning products and equipment.
  2. Strip and make beds, changing bed linens as needed, which may require lifting heavy bedspreads.
  3. Dust all furniture, pictures, drawers, window ledges, and shelves thoroughly to maintain a clean and presentable environment.
  4. Push and pull vacuum throughout entire room and empty trash receptacles to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  5. Replenish amenities, linens, and supplies in guest rooms as needed to provide exceptional service to our guests.
  6. Sign for room keys, retrieve, and restock heavy carts to ensure efficient room preparation.
  7. Visually inspect rooms for cleanliness and appearance, signifying completion for room assignments.
  8. Clean rooms, storage areas, and corridors as allocated, achieving high standards of cleanliness and presentation as per company policy.
  9. Ensure guest supplies and promotional materials in bedrooms and bathrooms are replenished, meeting correct standards for room type.
  10. Report lost and found items according to established procedures.
  11. Understand and follow proper usage and storage of cleaning agents, adhering to health and safety regulations and manufacturer's instructions.
  12. Use and clean equipment with care, reporting any defective equipment to maintenance staff.
  13. Perform opening and closing procedures, accurately completing any reports as required.
  14. Carry out deep cleaning duties as assigned by the Supervisor on duty.
  15. Use linen and terry in an efficient and cost-effective manner, ensuring corridors are free from dirty linen/terry.
  16. Report all maintenance faults to ensure prompt repair and minimize downtime.
  17. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
  18. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements and Qualifications

  1. Must have excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  2. A self-starting personality with an even disposition is essential for success in this role.
  3. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, providing exceptional customer service to our guests.
  4. Strong ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and guests alike, promoting a positive and welcoming environment.
  5. Ability to pitch-in and help co-workers with their job duties, demonstrating a strong sense of teamwork and camaraderie.
  6. Familiarity with chemical cleaning agents and operation of various cleaning equipment is preferred.
  7. Ability to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, demonstrating physical stamina and endurance.

This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $18.00 per hour, plus a range of benefits, including dental care, disability insurance, employee assistance program, extended health care, life insurance, on-site parking, and vision care.

Work Location

This role is based in-person at our Super 8 Yellowknife location, requiring regular attendance and availability to work on a flexible schedule.
