Job Summary:

The Nurse Specialist at Southern Health-Santé Sud applies the nursing process to support clients in achieving their optimum level of health within a people-centered approach. The incumbent works to full scope of practice, engages in ongoing education, and maintains competency congruent with Southern Health-Santé Sud policies, Professional Standards of Practice, and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply the nursing process to support clients in achieving their optimum level of health.
  • Work to full scope of practice and engage in ongoing education to maintain competency.
  • Exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods.
  • Function in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in both official languages (English/French) is essential.
  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale certification and Trauma Nursing Care Course certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification and Fetal Health Surveillance in Labour.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative interdisciplinary environment and establish positive working relationships.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to use an analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to lead and make decisions autonomously and demonstrate strong organizational skills.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Immunization as a condition of employment in accordance with Southern Health-Santé Sud policy.
