Medical Imaging Nurse

Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Imaging Nurse to join our team. As a Medical Imaging Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced medical imaging environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and monitor patients' physical and psycho-social needs
- Identify problems, plan, implement, document, evaluate, and coordinate nursing care
- Consult, confer, and collaborate with other healthcare providers and team members
- Provide individualized nursing care to patients with variable complexities of illnesses or injuries
- Assess patient health status, identify patient/family priorities, and plan, monitor, and revise care plans as needed
- Act to resolve problems or relieve care/emergent situations
- Assist radiologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures
- Carry out procedures required for equipment setup, aseptic counting, and opening of instruments and supplies
- Interpret basic ECG data and anticipate need for additional equipment
- Administer blood products and oxygen therapy
- Perform a variety of healthcare interventions using nursing skills and knowledge of medical equipment
- Assist with procedural sedation, general anesthesia, and airway management
- Monitor patient status and maintain critical care safety protocols
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families
- Verify patient identity, check consent, and provide explanations and reassurances to patients and families
- Advocate for and facilitate informed choices
- Teach patients and families about specific procedures and post-procedure care
- Anticipate, prepare for, and respond to unexpected critical situations
- Organize priorities in response to fluctuating workload volumes and patient treatment requirements
- Assess patients for discharge in accordance with established criteria
- Consult, collaborate, and coordinate care with peers and other caregivers
- Act as patient advocate, protecting and promoting patients' rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information
- Document patient/family perspectives, nursing observations, and activities that support patient/family priorities
- Maintain complete and accurate computerized and paper records
- Use appropriate supplies and equipment for patient care
- Maintain patient-monitoring equipment and handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials and sharps
- Respond to incidents and complete Incident Reports
- Participate in unit/team/program activities to enhance and optimize care delivery and evidence-based nursing practice
- Apply an evidence-based approach to clinical problem-solving
- Evaluate results in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
- Participate in approved nursing and interdisciplinary research and special projects
- Guide the clinical experience of assigned students and new staff
- Maintain and update own clinical knowledge and develop a plan for professional development
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
- Completion of a recognized high acuity specialty nursing certificate and one year of recent related interventional medical imaging experience
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate
