About the Role

Congruex is seeking a highly skilled Fiber Optic Splicer to join our team. As a key member of our wireless/engineering/construction team, you will play a critical role in designing and building broadband and wireless communications infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to and from job sites to perform fiber optic splicing and installation tasks.
  • Fusion splice SM ribbon and loose tube fiber optic cables, including terminating various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC).
  • Install and test pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues.
  • Review, interpret, and work with various maps, drawings, and blueprints, as well as testing documents.
  • Perform daily tests, checks, and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
  • Perform optical continuity and conformance testing.
  • Make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations.
  • Adhere to company policies, regulations, procedures, and principles.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience required in prepping and splicing ribbon fiber sized up to 864 fibers.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience prepping and splicing loose tube fiber, all sizes.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience installing, maintaining/repairing, and testing fiber optic networks, including bi-directional tests.
  • Previous underground utility experience.
  • Working knowledge of using various fusion splicing and optical testing equipment, including Alcoa Fujikura, GN Net Test, EXFO, Fitel, Sumitomo, and Viavi.
  • Basic understanding of Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to read, review, interpret, and understand technical documents.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions.
  • Lift and carry materials of all shapes and sizes, weighing 40 to 90 pounds.
  • Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewmen and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
  • Safely operate company vehicles or workaround heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies, or on-call.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl while performing work.
  • Ascend and descend ladders.
  • Work in small/confined areas.
  • Work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, a hardhat, and any applicable safety gear.
