Electrical Engineering Manager Job Description

Moving2Canada is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to join their team in Vancouver, BC and Toronto, ON offices. The successful candidate will have a salary range of $110,000 – $130,000.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage system engineering concepts, including design briefs and concept reports, in collaboration with the Principal-in-charge.
  • Review and manage design budgets, ensuring adherence to construction costs.
  • Perform or arrange for reviews of existing installations, interpreting and managing their impact on projects.
  • Prepare calculations and select equipment, assigning tasks to designers and CAD technicians as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, communicating requirements to internal and external project teams, owners, and authorities.
  • Coordinate document management with internal and external project teams, including architects, interior designers, and other disciplines.
  • Understand and apply project procurement methodologies, recommending or applying them as necessary.
  • Review deliverables for completeness and accuracy, ensuring adherence to total quality management standards.
  • Promote and enforce company standards for project administration, documentation, and processes.
  • Develop and improve processes and procedures for project management to enhance efficiency.
  • Lead Field Representative teams and delegate site activities to Project Managers as needed.
  • Prepare and review change notices issued by the contract administration team.
  • Ensure tasks are completed accurately and within assigned hours/fee.
  • Respond to technical and financial queries related to projects.
  • Support accounts receivable processes.
  • Prepare and monitor project schedules, including hours to perform tasks and critical data for performance.
  • Organize and attend meetings, including client meetings.
  • Actively seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development and Proposals group to respond to proposals, actively writing proposal responses (RFP).
  • Lead and/or assist in human resources-related activities, including recruitment and selection, employee development, performance appraisals, and employee relations.
Requirements:
  • Possess P.Eng or C.E.T. designation.
  • Have 8 or more years of project engineering experience in electrical building services.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in complex environments, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
  • Possess sound communication skills, as demonstrated through client and staff relations.
  • Demonstrate experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projects.
  • Be knowledgeable about provincial building codes, electrical codes, CSA, ULC, IEEE, IES, and NFPA standards.
  • LEED certification or experience implementing sustainable design (LEED projects) is an asset.
  • Demonstrate ability to deliver professional presentations and chair meetings with clients and at industry events.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop lasting relationships with clients that foster strong client ties.
  • Be willing to work over and above regular business hours to deliver projects and develop relationships with clients.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Must have a vehicle and valid driver's license.
