We are seeking a skilled Crisis Counsellor to join our Mental Health and Addictions Crisis Service team. As a Crisis Counsellor, you will respond to crisis situations, provide triage, assessment, and short-term transitional support to individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to crisis situations, including triage, assessment, and crisis management
  • Provide short-term transitional support to individuals in crisis
  • Act as an expert resource for customer follow-ups and reminders
  • Travel to meet people in crisis throughout the Prescott-Russell region
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Psychology, or a related field
  • Minimum of three years of experience in Mental Health and Addiction
  • Excellent clinical and assessment skills in psychiatric crisis
  • In-depth knowledge of mental illnesses and concurrent disorders
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act
  • Able to practice and impart the skill of empathy in the client-counsellor interaction
  • Demonstrated effectiveness working with minimal supervision
  • Possess a working knowledge of both official languages
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Valid driver's license, use of vehicle, and insurance
