Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Referral Specialist to join our team at Watson Clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that patients have access to the services of our specialist healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Access information through the billing system and 3-day out report to verify patient insurance coverage.
  • Coordinate the pre-certification process between physician offices and insurance carriers.
  • Add referral information into the computer system as received from insurance carriers.
  • Maintain good communication with physician offices and support staff to ensure efficient handling of referrals.
  • Maintain resources and document inquiry and actions taken in the Referral Comments.
  • Address patient and health plan issues/concerns effectively.
  • Adhere to department and Clinic policies and procedures.
  • Attend departmental meetings to stay informed of departmental issues and policies.

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED and 4 years of related experience may be equivalent).
  • One to two years referral experience preferred or basic working knowledge of referrals.
  • Knowledge of insurance plan referral requirements and referral processes.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to retain detailed information to perform daily duties and assist physician offices with proper referral processing.
  • Ability to type 35wpm and have basic knowledge of IDX scheduling.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Advanced telephone skills as a primary instrument of communication.
