Occupational Therapist

VON Canada is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to support our innovative programs. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in enhancing the functional mobility, independence, and safety of economically disadvantaged adults and healthcare workers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' needs and develop personalized plans to address their functional abilities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide education and recommendations to clients on therapy goals and monitor their outcomes and progression.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address clients' mental health status, social contacts, and spiritual and physical needs.
  • Document client outcomes and current care plans in the electronic patient chart according to funder and regulatory guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Masters in Occupational Therapy (or degree prepared occupational therapy education prior to 2008)
  • Valid registration with the relevant occupational therapy regulatory body and associated liability insurance
  • Membership with the relevant occupational therapy professional association is preferred
  • Experience in a healthcare environment (i.e. long-term care, acute medicine, rehab unit, rehab clinic, community visiting program)
  • Demonstrates knowledge of community resources and healthcare systems
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
  • Must have a personal vehicle and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
  • Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment
  • Attention to detail; Lift and carry using appropriate lifting techniques; Bend, push, pull, grip, reach, kneel, crouch using good body mechanics; Walk, sit, stand, climb stairs; Hand movements
