Occupational Therapist

VON Canada is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to support our innovative programs, enhancing the functional mobility, independence, and safety of economically disadvantaged adults and healthcare workers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' needs and develop personalized plans to address their functional abilities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide education and recommendations to clients on therapy goals and monitor their progress.
  • Develop and implement client-centered interventions to address mental health, social, and spiritual needs.
  • Document client outcomes and current care plans in the electronic patient chart, adhering to funder and regulatory guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Masters in Occupational Therapy (or degree-prepared occupational therapy education prior to 2008)
  • Valid registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia and associated liability insurance
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia Society of Occupational Therapists is preferred
  • Experience in a healthcare environment, including long-term care, acute medicine, rehab units, and community visiting programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources is an asset
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
  • A valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance are required
  • Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to lift and carry using proper lifting techniques; bend, push, pull, grip, reach, kneel, crouch using good body mechanics; walk, sit, stand, climb stairs; hand movements
