Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at Circle of Care. As a Recreation Therapist, you will contribute to the development and implementation of recreation programs for adults at our Adult Day Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement recreation programs that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being for adults.
  • Conduct recreation activities with groups, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify client needs and develop programs that meet those needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations related to recreation facilities and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to enhance program offerings.
  • Participate in health and safety processes and procedures, including incident reporting and risk management.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field.
  • Professional membership in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
  • Experience working with frail and impaired elderly and their families.
  • Experience working with seniors who have Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
  • Experience in recreational programming for seniors.
  • Intermediate computer and writing skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
