Job Summary

Mackenzie Health is seeking a skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team. As a Recreation Therapist, you will work in a dynamic client/patient and family recovery model of care, addressing the social, physical, spiritual, emotional, and cognitive needs of clients/patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, facilitate, schedule, organize, and implement various therapeutic recreation programs within inpatient and outpatient environments.
  • Conduct assessments, develop individual recreation plans, complete patient documentation, and evaluate individual and group recreation programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide safe, quality care.

Requirements

  • Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited university.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Member in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO).
  • 3-5 years' experience working on an Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and Mental Health Day Hospital Program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working as a primary therapist and carrying a caseload in a Mental Health Day Hospital Program.
  • Strong working knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles and practices.
  • Ability to work independently, self-directed, and effectively facilitate programs.
