Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator Role at Kasian Architecture

At Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning, we are seeking a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator to join our team in Vancouver. This is a national role that will support and coordinate the health and safety of our people and projects.
About the OpportunityWe are looking for an experienced HSE professional who can review and update existing health and safety guidelines and protocols as it pertains to project management and the overall Firm. The successful candidate will provide health and safety expertise and assessment on project matters and concerns.
The HSE Coordinator will lead the Occupational Health & Safety committee by addressing workplace issues and training representatives in each office. They will also create and maintain a Business Continuity Plan for all Kasian offices.
The role involves leading the coordination and completion of safe work procedures, hazard/field assessments, worksite safety inspections, audits and incident investigations. The HSE Coordinator will investigate workplace incidents and analyze investigation reports, requirements, and associated high-risk factors.
They will conduct the HS&E Orientation to employees and subcontractors during project onboarding and promote health and safety as a forward-thinking and preventive practice at Kasian. The HSE Coordinator will provide continuous safety training and project toolbox talks to employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and update existing health and safety guidelines and protocols
- Provide health and safety expertise and assessment on project matters and concerns
- Lead the Occupational Health & Safety committee
- Create and maintain a Business Continuity Plan
- Coordinate and complete safe work procedures and hazard/field assessments
- Investigate workplace incidents and analyze investigation reports
- Conduct HS&E Orientation and promote health and safety practices
Requirements:
- 3+ years' experience in the construction industry and health and safety management within the AEC industry
- Formal education and/or training in Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety, NCSO or equivalent experience
- Occupational First Aid Level 3 certification is desirable
- Experience with Certificate of Recognition (COR) and Safety Group (IHSA)
- Strong leadership, coaching and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence others
Estimated Salary: $75,000 per annum, based on a 40-hour work week. This salary is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
